The Attleborough Writers' Group was formed by former members of a creative writing class held for many years within the town of Attleborough. The group meets fortnightly in Attleborough to write, discuss and critique their own work.

The main aims of the group are:

·    To support each member in their endeavour to be creative and to give each member confidence in their own abilities and aspirations.

·   To encourage other local people to become interested in creative writing and to start their own writing groups.

·   To raise the profile of creative writing as a viable interest for all sections of the community requiring no credentials or experience.

Since December 2009 the writers have published five books, each containing an anthology of short stories and poems. Their first book was entitled 'Dark Horses' and received much local support. The group was delighted to be awarded a grant from Breckland Council towards their second anthology, 'Light and Dark', which was launched at Christmas 2010.

In the summer of 2010 the writers were invited to take part in the Breckland Arts Festival and have subsequently attended many local craft fairs offering helpful advice to anyone wishing to take up creative writing.

The third book had the title ‘Highlights’ and appeared in 2011. In November 2012 the Attleborough Writers' Group launched its fourth anthology of short stories and poems entitled 'Fourth Write' and this was followed in 2014 by a further collection of work in a book called ‘Mad Shrimp’.

The Attleborough Writers' Group, now an acknowledged part of the town's society, would like to invite prospective guest speakers to come along and share their experiences. The Group is self-financed through the subscriptions paid by members.
